Constructed as personal residence for the architect, a new energy efficient dwelling was tied to an existing cottage by means of an open breeze way. The cottage became the guest house and an Architect's studio is located at the rear of the property.

Oriented for solar and constructed of durable and energy efficient materials. The dynamic arrangement of elements and the appropriation of the architectural language of the local vernacular - standing seam metal roof, cedar shake details, half walls on the porches, traditional round columns - have produced a sensitive contextual response within a thoroughly post modern vocabulary.

First Floor: Superior Walls, (insulated precast concrete wall system), concrete slab on grade

Second Floor: SIPS (structural insulated panels) for knee walls and roof, pre-engineered floor framing

Exterior Finishes: H&C concrete stain on Superior Walls, Hardie siding and cedar shingles with Sikkens finish, Miratec trim, Traditional standing seam metal roof on sloped roof, EPDM on flat roof. Andersen windows and doors. Velux skylight in shower.

Interior Finishes: Polished concrete slab on first floor, sustainably harvested local hickory on second floor, reclaimed soapstone tops and surrounds in kitchen and bath, salvage doors, Toto bath fixtures, Ikea cabinetry, WindsorONE trim.
